Heritage Treasures

The historic homes of Ancaster, Burlington, Dundas, East Flamborough, Hamilton, Stoney Creek and Waterdown

by Susan Evans Shaw

Photographic portraits of Hamilton and Burlington’s finest heritage homes

The finest heritage homes in Hamilton and Burlington and surroundings, beautifully photographed.

Author Susan Evans Shaw researched the history of each home and the people who have lived in it. Jean Crankshaw photographed each one on the day and time that would show it in its best light.

The sixty houses included range from modest one-storey cottages to the very grandest of mansions. Heritage Treasures is a celebration of these cities’ architectural heritage.

This new edition includes updated information and photos of these buildings.

About the Author

Susan Evans Shaw

Susan Evans Shaw is an active member of Hamilton's literary community who became interested in local history. Her research into the history of some of the city's landmark heritage houses led to the idea for this book.

Jean Crankshaw began working as a freelance photographer in the late 1990s. She studied photography and digital imaging at Mohawk College and now exhibits her work in galleries in Hamilton and Brantford. Her special interests are architecture and outdoor photography.

In this revised edition, additional photos revealing the latest updates to these properties have been provided courtesy of Denis Crankshaw.
