Many of these recipes are family heirlooms, passed along from generation to generation and modified to suit today's tastes.  Others are features of Atlantic Canada's best chefs and restaurants.  The contributors tell the story behind their recpies.

This book grew out of the many fine contributions made by readers to Atlantic Insight's Heritage Recipe contest.  It reflects the region's varied cultural and ethnic background, and the inspired adaptations and innovations of fine cooks.  The result is a compendium of the best of Atlantic Canadian cooking today.
